]The same seed and schema always give the same data, so a test that uses this output stays stable. Email addresses use example.com and never belong to a real person.
How to use the Random JSON Generator
Sample data makes it possible to build and test an interface before the real API exists. This generator fills a JSON Schema with believable values: names in name fields, email addresses in email fields, numbers inside the minimum and maximum you set. A seed makes the output repeatable, so the same settings return the same data every time.
- 1Pick a shape: User, Product, Order, Blog post or API response. Or paste your own JSON Schema.
- 2Edit the schema if you need other fields, types, ranges or enum values.
- 3Set the number of records, from 1 to 100.
- 4Click Generate new data for a fresh set, or type a seed to get the same set again.
- 5Copy the JSON or download it as a .json file.
Frequently asked questions
How do I generate JSON from a JSON Schema?
Paste the schema into the left box. The generator reads type, properties, required, items, enum, const, format, minimum, maximum, minItems, maxItems and local $ref pointers, and writes matching data on the right.
What does the seed do?
The seed sets the starting point of the random number generator. The same seed with the same schema and record count always returns the same JSON, which keeps tests and screenshots stable.
How does the generator pick realistic values?
It uses the format first, such as email, uuid, date-time or uri. Without a format it reads the property name, so a field called city gets a city and a field called price gets a price.
Does the random data contain real people?
No. Names are combined at random from short lists, every email address uses example.com, and phone numbers use the reserved 555 range.
How many records can I generate?
Up to 100 per run. One record comes back as a single object, and two or more come back as an array.
