How to use the Cubemap Texture Generator
Unity skyboxes and reflection probes need cubemap textures assembled from six faces in a specific layout. This generator takes your six face images, lets you preview their orientation, and exports Unity-ready cross or sequence layouts — all locally in your browser.
- 1Upload your six cubemap face images.
- 2Preview and adjust their orientation.

Frequently asked questions
What does the cubemap generator do?
It takes six individual face images and combines them into Unity-ready cubemap textures, letting you preview orientation and export cross or horizontal-sequence layouts.
What layouts can I export?
You can export both cross and sequence (strip) layouts, which cover the common formats used for skyboxes and reflection probes in Unity and other engines.
Are my textures uploaded to a server?
No. The cubemap is assembled locally in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
What size should each cubemap face be?
Each face must be square and all six must be the same size. Powers of two such as 512, 1024, or 2048 pixels are the safest choice for game engines and compress well on the GPU.
How do I turn the cubemap into a skybox in Unity?
Import the Unity Sequence image, set Texture Shape to Cube and Mapping to 6 Frames Layout. Create a material with the Skybox/Cubemap shader, assign the texture, and drag the material into the scene or set it under Lighting, Environment, Skybox Material.
Which cubemap face is which?
The six faces are +X (right), −X (left), +Y (up), −Y (down), +Z (front) and −Z (back). Files named with suffixes such as _px, _left, _top or _front are placed automatically; if a face ends up in the wrong spot, drag it onto the right tile to swap them.
